Art Prize is going on in downtown GR right now. It's a pretty cool thing. It gets so many people out of their houses and visiting different places that they would otherwise never go.
We told John we were going to go to ArtPrize with grandma and Grandpa this weekend and he was all excited. He didn't know what it was, but he knew Grandma was excited, so he was excited. We got downtown and had been walking around looking at random outdoor art pieces for about 15 minutes when John said "we go ArtPrize?" To him, ArtPrize was a destination; since we were still walking and hadn't stopped, we must not be there yet, right? We tried to explain to him that all of this was part of ArtPrize, but it didn't really stick. I decided it would be easier to give him a destination, so I told him that we were going to see the river and the art by the river. That was good enough for him.
Yesterday, I watched a video put to music and documenting some of the ArtPrize pieces. Then, John was on his ArtPrize kick again. He asked probably 20 times if we could go to ArtPrize. I told him we couldn't go, but we could make our own art. We got out the colored pencils and went to work making art. We decided to draw what was out the window, but got distracted partway through the first tree.
Later, Eric let John help him hang up some paintings in the basement. John remembered ArtPrize again, so Eric just went with it.
Today, John and I finished our picture and used our fingers to "paint" it with water. He asked me "This ArtPrize" and then told me "I go ArtPrize with Daddy downstairs." My son may or may not think that art=ArtPrize and/or that ArtPrize now exists in our house.
Anyway, if anyone wants to visit the newest ArtPrize exhibit, stop by our house!
