Full Time

This was written by my sister-in-law, Becca. She has a lot of wisdom. This is something that I need to be reminded of often.

Full-Time:

My full-time, 24-hour, on call job right now is the most important one I've had in my whole life.
It requires much more of me than any other job, but the value is far greater.
The problem is it doesn't always seem that way.
Most days there's not much sense of accomplishment or anyone saying, "job well done."
Where most jobs merely assist or serve people, this job shapes people!
Two little people, who look to me and my husband for love, support, guidance, knowledge... everything.
With God's help I have to take my role as a mother seriously.

Bethany & Isabelle

my life right now...

my beautiful blessings...

my job is to be their mom, mommy, mama

The MOST important job of my life.

God help me to take it seriously.

Help me every day
to do my best
with Your help.

April Mary Quite Contrary

My baby sister is graduating high school today.

When I graduated from High School, my mom sent all of the pictures of me to my oldest sister, Anna. Anna compiled them into a scrapbook of my life, birth to high school graduation. I love that scrapbook. Eric has something similar. We also put together a photo album from our wedding/honeymoon. We have those three books sitting next to eachother and everyonce in a while, I pull them out and look through them, just to help me remember where we came from. The pictures bring back so many memories. The most important thing that scrapbook reminds me of is my roots, my faith, family, and friends. It grounds me.

I am not nearly as creative as Anna, but I wanted to try to do the same thing for April that she did for me. So, as a gift to her for graduation and a way for her to remember all the times that brought her here, mom and I decided to make her a photo book. I hope that it can ground her when she's homesick, confused, frustrated, or just in need of a walk down memory lane.

In order to maximize my coupons, I decided to make two (one for high school, one for before that). Here are the links so you can look at them too!

Congratulations April! I am so proud of the beautiful, Godfearing, unique woman that you have become. You are incredibly talented and have learned much earlier than most that your life is not defined by those around you, but by you and your own choices. Thanks for being you. These books don't even come close to sharing all of the memories, love and, joy that we have shared. I love you so much and can't wait to see what God has in store for you.

Love your big sister,
Angela Faith

My rant to Alicia

I have a long lost sister. Her name is Alicia. This is what I just wrote to her:

I thought you should know that I think its lame that:
1. You got rid of your facebook so I can't contact you there.
2. You don't update your blog so I can't stalk you here.
3. You STILL haven't added me on skype, so I can't even call you with that! (I friend requested you about a month ago when I got my iPad and my own skype name and so far...nothing).
4. You still haven't told me if you want John to be in your wedding or if people are just making that up. Do I need to find some clothes for him?

I think it would be cool if:
1. You got facebook back since you're moving to Alberta and we'll need pictures of your baby bump in about 2 months.
2. You updated your blog more often to let me know what's going on in your life.
3. You added me on skype so I could skype you.
4. I could talk to you. I miss you a little bit in case you didn't guess that.

I'm excited that she is going to be in Indiana this month so that I can see her a little bit.

Videos 2

I may have gone a little crazy on the videos this week. He's just so much fun to watch and I want everyone else to be able to see him too!

Wednesday: Playing with his helicopter.

Thursday: Being a goofball.

Friday: Watched the video of him playing with his helicopter. Went to get his helicopter. Got mad when I stood up instead of letting him keep watching the video.

Hope you enjoy as much as I do!

Driver's Training

I remember driver's ed. It was one of the most boring classes I have ever taken.
Fortunately, I took driver's ed in a three-week intensive summer course with 4 other people from DeMotte (Lauren, Erin, Dean, and Ryan). Our parents took turns carpooling us to Valparaiso everyday, so we would all load into a vehicle, joke around, eat, talk, laugh, or "practice driving" for 45 minutes until we got to there. Then, we would continue to joke around, talk, or laugh for the rest of the morning while we were learning all about the rules and regulations of driving in Indiana.
Learning to drive with a friend was so much more enjoyable than doing it by myself. It helped me to keep my sanity when I rode with the crazy instructors: paranoid guy, the smoker, "key color" OCD guy, and of course, the lady. Friends make things more fun.

Today, John showed Brendan how to "drive" his car by walking behind it. Brendan loved this and went at it for the next 20 minutes or so.

After a while, John got pretty sick of sharing and tried to commandeer his car by sitting on it. Brendan decided that he wanted to keep driving anyway! They learned that driving is more fun with a friend.

I thought that would be the end of it, but pretty soon, they had switched places and John was pushing Brendan!

Sorry I didn't post the videos right on here, but I can't figure out how to do that on this iPad. Hope you enjoy watching these kiddos learn to drive! I sure did (although an hour and a half of following them around helping them turn did tire me out :)
